Who Has The Best Espresso Martini In Bozeman?

Here’s the thing: nothing great happens on herbal tea.

But the best espresso martini in Bozeman? That’s a whole different story. Around here, a martini isn’t just a cocktail, it’s a lifestyle. She’s a little bit coffee, a little bit cocktail, and just enough trouble to keep you out way past your bedtime. Bozeman’s espresso martinis are fueling late-night line dancing, downtown happy hours, and every kind of “let’s grab drinks” situation in between. If you’re looking for the best cocktails in Bozeman; something bold, buzzy, and a little bit bougie. The espresso martini might just be your new go-to.

So we had to ask: Where’s the best espresso martini in Bozeman?

Naturally, we turned to all of you. We ran a poll, the nominations came flying in: Devil’s Toboggan, 1864, Plonk, Brigade, Heist, Tommy's and even "Your Mom's House" made the cut. Then we narrowed it down to your top 4. And because we love a good excuse to hit the town (for research, of course), we grabbed the babes, grabbed our scorecards, and went tasting.

Because why speculate when you can sip, swirl, and gossip about foam quality in real time?

We rated, we scribbled notes, we whispered things like “It's sooo yummy” and “Oops I got a bean” between sips. And now, we’ve got the results... our Top 4 Espresso Martinis in Bozeman.

The Top 4 Espresso Martinis in Bozeman

Plonk

Location: 29 E Main St, Bozeman, MT 59715
Website: https://plonkwine.com
Our Take:

Plonk is one of those places that feels like a must-stop whether you’re a local or just passing through downtown Bozeman. We walked in, got a warm welcome from the host, and made our way straight to the back terrace, it’s still summer, and the vibes out there were immaculate. Two wonderful servers, Lexia and Lea, took great care of us while we settled in. And while we came for only one thing, the legendary Espresso Martini! We were a little surprised not to see it listed on the menu. Lucky for us (and thanks to our followers who ranked Plonk’s espresso martini as #1 in our poll), all you have to do is ask.

When our drinks arrived, they came in beautiful glassware, generously poured, and ready for the clink. First sip thoughts? “Oh…that tastes like chocolate cake!” The flavor leaned smooth and dessert-like, with a subtle sweetness that makes you want to linger over every sip. While it wasn’t quite as foamy as some others in town, it still had that creamy texture you want in an espresso martini. What makes it special? Plonk uses real espresso (of course) and a house-infused vanilla vodka that gives the drink its signature flavor.

All in all, we get it now. Plonk’s off-menu espresso martini deserves the hype. It’s rich, smooth, and a little indulgent, just the way Bozeman likes it. At $14, it’s on par with other spots around town, and while you’re there, don’t miss Plonk’s great happy hour (3–5pm daily and 10:30–midnight Thursday through Saturday). Off-menu or not, this martini is one you’ll be glad you asked for.

A bonus note - They have super cute Matchbooks at the host stand on your way out! Grab a few! They will look great in a bowl next to the ones you bought from Intrigue Ink!

Brigade

Location: 233 E Main St Suite 201, Bozeman, MT 59715
Website: https://brigadebzn.com
Our Take:

Perched upstairs on Main Street, Brigade is everything you’d expect from an elevated Bozeman dining spot: elegant, contemporary, and just the right amount of fine-dining fancy without being intimidating. We grabbed seats at the bar, where the bartenders were friendly and kind (never a bad combo). Flipping open the menu, we spotted exactly what we came for: the Nitro Espresso Martini.

Our drinks arrived with a smile, and first sip thoughts? “Why is it so spicy?” Turns out, Brigade uses a cinnamon-infused cold brew, so while it’s not actually spicy, the cinnamon gives it a fragrant kick that sets it apart from the rest. Smooth, bold, and a little unexpected, this martini felt unique and classic at the same time. The glassware was understated and elegant, garnished with the traditional three espresso beans, and strong in all the right ways.

Sable declared this one her favorite espresso martini in town, and we can see why. It’s the kind of cocktail that somehow gets better with every sip. At $14, it’s priced right in line with the rest of Bozeman’s espresso martinis, and while it’s not part of happy hour, Brigade’s daily 3–6pm happy hour does include classic martinis for just $3.50 (a deal worth coming back for). It’s easy to see why our followers voted Brigade’s martini into the #2 spot. It’s fragrant, delicious, and leaves you with just the right kind of buzz.

Tommy's R&D MC

Location: 39 N Rouse Ave, Bozeman, MT 59715
Website: https://tommysrndmc.com
Our Take:

Tucked just off Main Street, Tommy’s R&D MC is one of Bozeman’s coolest new bars—and it’s already making waves. Walk through the doors and you’re greeted by a dark, polished, motorcycle-meets-pool-table kind of vibe: clean, elevated, and effortlessly cool. The bartenders are as friendly as they come, quick to strike up conversation, and we were lucky enough to meet Bri, who gave us the lowdown on what makes their espresso martinis so special.

And yes, that’s martinis...plural. Tommy’s partners with local roaster Roly-Poly Coffee Co. for their espresso, but the real twist is that you can choose your base spirit: vodka, tequila, or bourbon. Naturally, we couldn’t resist diving headfirst into the tequila version (cue the song). First sip thoughts? WOW. Bold, smooth, and just sweet enough, it delivered that perfect balance of bitter coffee and boozy kick. Creativity? Check. Texture? Spot on. Flavor? A solid 10/10.

Tommy’s only opened in April, but judging by this martini, they’re already carving out their place on Bozeman’s cocktail map. At $14, the price is right in line with the rest of town. While the espresso martini isn’t part of their happy hour, they do run happy hour daily from 4–6pm (and yes, they’re even open Mondays). Snacks are available at the bar, but trust us, the martini itself is the main event.

We were thrilled to see Tommy’s nominated in our poll and ranked in the top 5 by our followers. Strong, tasty, and refreshingly customizable, their espresso martini is one to brag about. Go now, so you can say you knew them before they blew up.

Devil's Toboggan

Location: 113 East Oak St STE 2B, Bozeman, MT 59715
Website: https://www.devilstoboggan.com
Our Take:

Bozeman’s very own speakeasy, Devil’s Toboggan, is the kind of hidden gem that makes you feel like you’re in on a secret. Tucked upstairs in the Cannery District, you’ll find a closed door that begs to be opened. Step inside and you’re instantly transported. It's dark, intimate, dripping with character and old-world class. It’s less “Bozeman bar” and more “time-traveling night out.”

On the menu, you won’t see “espresso martini” listed, but don’t be fooled. Here it’s disguised as the Cold Brew Martini, made with vanilla vodka, cold brew, Tia Maria, and Frangelico. At $17, it’s a little pricier than most in town, but trust us: the atmosphere alone is worth the extra dollars. Order one at the bar if you can; the bartenders here are true craftsmen, and watching them build cocktails is half the fun.

The martini itself is smooth, nutty, and just a little indulgent—a perfect fit for the cozy speakeasy vibe. It’s less foam-forward than the traditional version (thanks to the cold brew), but still delivers that rich, coffee-forward punch you’re craving. Devil’s Toboggan also runs a daily happy hour from 4–6pm. While the espresso martini isn’t included, we have to shout out their "salty" star: pretzel bites. Espresso martini + pretzel bites? Say less.

And before you go! Do yourself a favor and order Aunt Effie’s Cake. Trust us on this one. Devil’s Toboggan is a little slice of another era, and we get why it’s a local favorite. Secret door, secret martini, secret indulgence. Now you’re in on it too.
